Prescot Cables FC

I began developing a new website for Prescot Cables FC during the summer of 2018. The club had, like many others, been using Pitchero's template-based system because of the amount of automation provided. However, a change in pricing models, coupled with the club's desire to have something representative of its own values and identity, rather than customising a generic, pre-built site led to a decision to bring the project in house.

This project was the first website I built from scratch using WordPress (I have used Joomla! and Sitecore on previous projects). The aim was to create something that was easy to navigate, placed a strong emphasis on supporter engagement and was easy to maintain. It uses a responsive layout to assist visitors who use mobile devices to browse.

The menu bar at the top of the page is 'sticky', so is visible throughout a visit. The site is managed by a team of volunteers, including myself and is rapidly developing into an archive for the club; electronic versions of the matchday programme are available to download, new image galleries are being added weekly and it is hoped that, eventually, the History section will be expanded significantly.

Just as importantly from the club's perspective, by moving away from Pitchero, the club has reduced costs significantly.
