A Football Club in Prescot

During Lockdown, I've been working on a number of projects. One has been researching our Family Tree, while another has been designing a paperback book, then helping to turn it into a reality.

A Football Club in Prescot covers the first 50 years in the life of what has become Prescot Cables FC. It was written by Glyn Williams, who has written extensively about the club's history and players in both the matchday programme and the club website.

The words are all Glyn's; my input was in designing the manuscript, cover then publishing the complete work using free-to-access tools provided via Amazon.

This is the fourth book I have worked on which has been published using Amazon's publishing platform. In addition to my own history of Ashford Town (Middlesex) FC, From Albion to Zazzera and Stories from Everywhere, to which I contributed a piece, I also edited and designed True Ghost Stories by Alan Bates.

I'm tremendously proud that I've been able to help Glyn turn A Football Club in Prescot into a real product. It is a short  but well-researched book which captures the spirit of football in the late 19th and early 20th centuries superbly. The advantages of self-publishing in the way we have is that the book is available from the world's largest bookseller, but neither Glyn nor myself has incurred significant financial costs in making it happen. I was happy to support a friend whilst adding to my own portfolio of design work, while Glyn has been able to bring the book to market without having to cover the costs of a print run.
