Prescot Cables v Mossley Programme

This programme was required just four days after the reissued Prescot Cables v Kendal Town Programme and was the first of three home games in just five days. Fortunately, over the course of the season the club has attracted some excellent contributors to the programme and I was assisted with this issue by Roy McDonald, who prepared an excellent piece about the Cables team of 1947-48, who suffered an extraordinary run of matches during April but still ended the season with a trophy.

There had been talk of the season being extended but the FA had ruled out the idea, which was part of the reason I had to prepare so many programmes in such short order. The authorities came in for a degree of criticism from me in this issue as a result.
